Do you have a regular place and/or person who does your hair? What are they like?
If you could have the hair of any famous person, past or present, whose would you choose?

| | Paris Motel - 071 | ] | British Sea Power's cover of The Wurzels' 'I'm A Cider Drinker' is implausibly lovely. I'm tempted to drop it into my DJ set this Thursday. But I probably won't. |

| | Neon Neon - I Told Her On Alderaan | ] | Hello, I've been asked to do some DJing.
Easter Thursday (March 20th), in the VIP area at XFM's The Remix Allnighter, SeOne Club, London Bridge.
Apparently this is actually a proper club, with real DJs and live acts and everything, so I don't know what I'm doing there but still. I'm not sure what the brief is, but it looks like trendy young person's pop and dance music (www.myspace.com/theremix), which will probably translate as me playing whatever the fvck I want. I'm told I'll have guest list places....dunno whether these extend to the VIP room, but there's also some other stuff happening (Vitalic, The Whip, Long Range, Ninja Tune fellas).
Oh, also, I'm DJing at somethign new on April 1st, which I suppose gives me lots of April Fools Day type DJing japery to consider.

| | Cabaret Voltaire - Conform To Deform | ] | Posting this on behalf of a company I'm vaguely involved with, in case anyone wants to go.
We have a brilliant free CV Workshop this Wednesday, 27 Feb, at 2pm, at our Shoreditch HQ, run by unicornjobs.com founder and FT columnist Heather McGregor. If you or anyone you know wants to come just email your name, phone number and the words 'CV 27 Feb' to cvworkshop@unicornjobs.com. It’s specifically aimed at students and recent graduates, but is actually of value to anyone looking to hone their curriculum vitae. |

| | Robyn - With Every Heartbeat | ] | Farewell then, Tony.
Without you, I would never have (thrillingly) discovered New Order, never discovered that there was more to music than just what was in the charts, never made the decision to go to university in Manchester. I suppose in a peverse kind of way he was one of the most influential people in terms of the way my life actually panned out. And he was just great when I interviewed him in the old Factory offices for my student magazine.
Anyway. I hope your gravestone gets its own Factory catalogue number (and a fitting Peter Saville design) and that you party hard in heaven with Ian Curtis, Rob Gretton and Martin Hannett. |

| | The Pink Floyd - Jugband Blues | ] | It's awfully considerate of you to think of me here And I'm much obliged to you for making it clear That I'm not here. And I never knew the moon could be so big And I never knew the moon could be so blue And I'm grateful that you threw away my old shoes And brought me here instead dressed in red And I'm wondering who could be writing this song. I don't care if the sun don't shine And I don't care if nothing is mine And I don't care if I'm nervous with you I'll do my loving in the winter. And the sea isn't green And I love the queen And what exactly is a dream? And what exactly is a joke? |

| | Pet Shop Boys - Fugitive | ] | Well, that was enjoyable.
I knew that it wouldn't be busy before 8pm, but I also thought it would be quite lifeless after 11pm, so it was rather gratifying to instead see everyone on the dancefloor having fun right up til the end, with only Nambucca's license preventing the fun continuing. Apparently the night was in The Times Saturday Magazine Top 5 Picks Of The Week, or something.
Anyway, thanks to the DJs and everyone who came, especially the guy who came over from Finland just for it (sort of).
Here's what I played:
Set 1: Expose - Point Of No Return My Robot Friend - We're The Pet Shop Boys Sugababes/Richard X - Freak Like Me Pet Shop Boys - Positive Role Model Electronic - The Patience Of A Saint Tiga - You Gonna Want Me Dubstar - Stars Le Sport - If Neil Tennant Was My Lover Pet Shop Boys - I Don't Know What You Want But I Can't Give It Any More Kiki Kokova - Love To Love You Baby Information Society - What's On Your Mind? (Pure Energy) Billie Trix - Run Girl Run (1981 Version) West End Girls - Domino Dancing New Order - 1963 Veto Silver - Stay Young, Stay Beautiful Liza Minelli - Losing My Mind Bis - Make It Through Dusty Springfield - Reputation Pet Shop Boys - Paninaro (Italian mix)
Set 2: Pet Shop Boys - Left To My Own Devices Kylie - Better The Devil You Know Brother Beyond - The Harder I Try Pet Shop Boys - I'm With Stupid KLF - What Time Is Love? Dusty Springfield - I Only Wanna Be With You Pet Shop Boys - Go West
Set 3: New Order - Regret David Bowie - Hallo Spaceboy (Pet Shop Boys remix) Electronic - Disappointed Pet Shop Boys - Heart Marc Almond - Jacky Pete Burns - Jack And Jill Party Pet Shop Boys - Minimal Pet Shop Boys - Flamboyant Kylie - I Should Be So Lucky Pet Shop Boys - Can You Forgive Her?

| | The Grid - This Must Be Heaven | ] | Hello, I'm at home now, ftb I have a nightclub to get ready for.
I'm a bit worried that no-one is coming - well I know a number of my friends are, which is great, but other than that I'm unsure. I can't say my attempts to plug the night on multiple PSB fora generated much interest, I only did limited, strategic flyering, and although I submitted listings to the press, nothing appeared. Gah.
Still, there's nish all else happening tonight, so you never know.
Anyway, it all kicks off at 7pm, apparently, when I will be start spinning some ace tunage. Hope to see you later... |
